Cream Wad Pie, Au Fruit Perdu
Ingredients :
In the business end of a double boiler, blend and cook sugar, flour, salt, and milk ; decease when mixture a) thickens, b) gets hot, or c) or obdurately refuses to do either, whichever is prominent after about ten minutes. Add mixture to the yolks, which you will have disciplined in advance; continue beating until smooth. Return to double boiler and cook until thickened, whereupon remove from heat, add vanilla, and twiddle thumbs a bit before adding the slightly cooled mixture to the crust containing the fruit. Cover with meringue and brown (350 for 15 minutes).
